Bosch Electronic Service

Bosch services for display elements

Bosch Electronic Service can fall back on several decades of experience in vehicle electronics repairs. We started as a factory service for Blaupunkt radios and navigation systems, today we also repair display elements and complex control units for various applications in the automotive industry. Additionally, at Bosch Electronic Service we repair devices for the most diverse vehicle manufacturers, including BMW, VW, Ford, Mercedes as well as Porsche and consequently we can offer services in manufacturer quality.

The advantages of our repair services speak for themselves!

  • As part of repairs we rely on testing technology that was specifically designed by Bosch for diagnosis and troubleshooting in initial equipment standard. In our test towers, we simulate all situations in which the device must work in everyday life, e.g. different temperatures and loads. Consequently, we can comprehensively check your display element and safeguard a very in-depth analysis.
  • The immobiliser is usually retained and recalibration
with a manufacturer-specific diagnostic tester is not necessary.
  • In the event of irreparable display elements, we can often offer you a replacement unit.
  • We only perform repairs with original parts.

Incidentally: In the event of a flat rate repair or replacement, we offer a warranty on the entire device, not only on the repaired fault.

Repairing display elements

Find out more about display elements, the electronic system and our high-grade repair service.

Display element – more than just a screen?

The display element, also known as the instrument cluster, receives electronic data, for instance from the engine control unit, anti-lock braking system (ABS) as well as from the electronic stability program (ESP) and it also handles mechanical (sensor) data. Essentially the display element consists of different sub-elements – for instance the speedometer, mileage counter or fuel tank level indicator and they all digitally illustrate data and warnings. This kind of functionality provides drivers with essential orientation so they can make the right decisions in road traffic and represents an important contribution to road safety.

How do I know when my display element is faulty?

The electronics in the display element are faulty if the display incorrectly illustrates data or the component is temporarily or permanently out of order. These faults be caused by mechanical and electronic damage. For instance the needles in the dials are not in the correct position or they flutter. The display may have also cracked.

If you identify such a defect, we can offer you various services to eliminate the issue:

  1. Repairs at a flat rate or cost estimates depending on the device and offer.
  2. Replacement with a new device after having returned the faulty device including transferring device data to avoid recalibration.
  3. Advance exchange with a new device. Receive a new device and later send the damaged part back to us. In this case, it is unfortunately not possible to transfer the data beforehand.

Our technicians' many years of experience make us market leaders in the repair or restoration of automotive electronics. We work according to common, electronics production standards and directives applicable worldwide, such as IPC-7711 and IPC-7721.

You are not sure which display element you have?

You can find out the type of display element by looking for a 10-digit Bosch part number on the device sticker. This is an example of a part number:
0 263 665 133 or 0 263 670 063
